“Storm” – My Digital Art – ArtRage – 1024 x 610 – September 16, 2018

The fragile sky is resisting the breakthrough of the storm,
But, it seems she is losing the battle.
She has been overcome by electric overtones of lightning,
And, purple thunder,
Coming out of the minds of monster clouds,
By winds,
Tearing out of the mouths of Titans,
In this space between bird and death,
Where lovers turn into flowers,
Where seeds grow, with or without fruit,
And, gods with eyes as spiral as the galaxy,
Come to visit the landscapes of my life.
Angry rain, midnight blue,
Thick and quick,
Has come to drown everything already gone,
Leaving nothing but right now,
Flash floods washing out my mind,
Never drying out,
No possibility of tomorrow’s sun.

The raging wind is racing away from the end,
Taking everything with it,
Replacing the tumbleweed and waterfalls of yesterday,
The pink sawgrass and long-gone rainbows,
The memories of a hundred cities,
With white out skies and inundations,
Soaring into the echoes of clouds,
Covering the horizon, grown into giants,
Reverberating on the edges of my mind,
Breathing a wavering, receding mirage,
Soon to be given up, even by ghosts,
Abandoned by the restless bones of yesterday,
Buried beneath the leaves,
Left behind by the residual emotions of skeletons,
And, the marrow inside of cracked bones,
To be covered by kudzu and dirges,
Waiting for the sunshine of tomorrow,
Not even memories left.

Visions from my Dreams

“Visions from my Dreams” – My Digital Art – August 2018
“Visions from my Dreams” – My Digital Art – August 2018

I am in a dream,
A dream of chaos,
Crystallized into jungles and forests,
Every tree alive,
Every leaf with its own direction.
I am seeking my way out,
Or, my way in.
I am trying to find out how I fit into the landscape.
I am seeking the colors which disturb my emotions,
Fill my soul,
And, feed my spirit.
I am following the pathways recommended by clouds,
And, I am recognized only by animals,
Who are seeking an attitude to match their own,
And, who know me only by my intentions.

Lunch in O’Brien

“Lunch” – just a photo

Suwannee Lady sings this song. The catfish swim and the snakes are long.
The smoke that’s spilling from the oil filled grill, is getting pretty strong.
Everybody’s hungry now. I hope I’m right instead of wrong.
Put your napkin back, in your old knapsack, and everybody sing along!

I’m going to bake a jellyfish cake,
And, make up a big pot of caterpillar stew.
I hope that you, will be having some,
And, I know I’ll be having some, too.
There’ll be spider web pudding with fire fly goo.
It is one of my favorites, but, I’ll give some to you.

Grab a knife and a fork and a big plastic spoon, because,
You know, now, it’s almost noon,
And, everyone knows, we’ll be eating very soon.

We’ll have crispy, and, dee-fried, blue horsefly’s eyes,
Served with sweet beetle soup, and, with dragonfly pies.
Butterfly butter makes a very good spread.
You can try some instead, on the live-oak tree bread.

Then curried cactus, which is such a treat,
I make it with fresh, furry, hush puppy’s feet,
Mixed with hot muskrat, in red-fire-ant sauce,
And, tossed in a dressing of wet, spanish moss.
Acorn salad with kudzu, blue tailed skink fondue,
Try the wild catfish candy, with Branford’s own brandy,
Or, with wine distilled from dandelions and mimosa’s seed,
Or, whiskey which my neighbor made from leftover, jimson weed.

We’ll have ground goobers, the frozen kind. I never use the canned.
Then goulash made from gopher’s guts and spiced with lots of sand.
There’ll be sizzling, flambed lizards with hot, bubbling, buzzard’s gizzards,
And, finger licking, sweet, red, frog jam spread on alligator ham,
Roasted toad toes in a sauce with crushed snail’s shell,
A rich, dish which I think is swell,
And, a dish which I make really well,
But, watch out for the wasp-sting dip because its hot as anything.
After lunch is over, you can sit with me, beneath a tree.
You can have a sawgrass soda, or an unsweet, pine straw tea.
If you want one, I could make, a copperhead slushy or, a rattlesnake shake.

If you find some of these dishes don’t fulfill all your wishes,
Or, if you think that one of them might sound a bit suspicious,
Thank your lucky stars and consider it auspicious,
That a good cook can take anything, as long as its nutritious,
And, turn it into a gourmet dish, which is wonderfully delicious.

Full Moon in Leo

“Full Moon in Leo” – Digital Art – ArtRage – July 2018

The moonlight excites me. Especially the full moon, close to the horizon, grandiose and golden. This “painting” was done in my brand new software, ArtRage Oil, an android app (free download), and pretty good. Inspired by a night from once before, a magical night, in the Everglades, alligators howling, rustling under the stillness, dreaming of shadows, stars obscured by the moon’s splendor. This is my first painting in ArtRage and I like it. It is of the moonrise over the Dragon Fields behind the campsite at Long Pine Lake. Hope you like it too.

The Florida forests are generally by passed by visitors so anxious to instead reach the white sand beaches, the mysterious Everglades or the legendary Land of Mickey and, thus a great deal of beauty is missed.
